How do DNS records connect your application domain to its hosting?

DNS helps clients resolve a hostname to the destination configured by its owner. It does not create application routes or automatically configure OAuth.

Use the records your host requires

An A record maps a name to an IPv4 address, an AAAA record to an IPv6 address, and a CNAME aliases a name to another name. TXT records can carry verification information. Follow the hosting provider’s instructions for the exact names and values; avoid copying another project’s records.

Verify each layer separately

Confirm the authoritative DNS zone, then check resolution for the intended hostname. Verify the hosting service recognizes that domain and serves the application. Finally test HTTPS and the callback route. Preserve unrelated records such as email configuration. A useful diagnostic sequence asks whether the name resolves, whether the host responds, and whether the application route works. These are separate failures with different fixes.
