How do I write achievements on my resume?

Describe actions and outcomes clearly instead of listing generic duties.

How do I write achievements on my resume?

Write achievements by connecting something you did to a concrete outcome or deliverable. Explain the context and your responsibility so a reader can understand the contribution. Use measurements when they are reliable; a useful achievement does not always need a percentage.

What to do

  • For each flagged bullet, write down what you personally designed, implemented, tested, analyzed, or coordinated. Distinguish participation from ownership.

  • Name the output or change that resulted. A completed migration, documented process, or resolved issue can be useful evidence without a percentage.

  • Attribute shared outcomes honestly. Explain your part in a team result rather than presenting the entire result as an individual achievement.

Example

Instead of claiming you built an entire commerce platform, identify the checkout validation and error states you implemented within that platform.

A smaller, well-supported contribution communicates more clearly than a broad claim that obscures your role.
