Inter-College Networking and Opportunities Platform
A platform built for college students to discover hackathons, competitions, internships, and collaborative projects happening across colleges. CampusConnect bridges the gap between talented students who are stuck inside their own campus bubbles and the opportunities, teams, and communities that exist just outside them. Think of it as LinkedIn meets Devfolio meets a college notice board, built specifically for the Indian college ecosystem.
The Problem It Solves
- Students miss out on hackathons, fests, and competitions because there is no single place where all inter-college opportunities are listed
- Finding teammates for hackathons or project collaborations outside your own college is still done through random Instagram posts and WhatsApp forwards
- Most college students have no professional presence or portfolio before they graduate, making early opportunities hard to access
- Internship and opportunity discovery is dominated by platforms built for professionals, not for students still building their first projects
- College clubs and tech communities have no shared space to coordinate, recruit members, or run cross-college events
- Students who want to connect with seniors or peers from other colleges for mentorship have no structured way to do it
Tech Stack
- Frontend: React.js, TailwindCSS, Framer Motion for animations
- Backend: Node.js, Express.js
- Database: MongoDB for user profiles, posts, teams, events, and applications
- Auth: JWT and Google OAuth with college email domain verification
- Real-time: Socket.IO for team chat and live notifications
- Search: Elasticsearch or MongoDB Atlas Search for people, events, and opportunities
- Media: Cloudinary for profile photos, club banners, and project thumbnails
- Email: Nodemailer and SendGrid for event reminders, application updates, and digests
- Deployment: Vercel (frontend), Render or AWS EC2 (backend), MongoDB Atlas (DB)

Why This Project Stands Out
- College email domain verification with JWT is a real authentication challenge rarely seen in student projects
- Real-time team chat using Socket.IO inside a community platform adds a live collaboration dimension beyond basic CRUD
- The team formation and matching algorithm requires thinking about graph-style relationships and skill-based filtering at scale
- Opportunity aggregation with deadline tracking and email reminders solves a genuine daily pain point for millions of Indian college students
- The combination of social profiles, event discovery, team building, and mentorship in one product shows full product thinking and is immediately launchable as a real startup
